Parents & Community - Vacation Request

The School Education Act 1999 states that parents need to obtain permission from the Principal for their child / children to have extended leave of absence for any reason such as in-term holiday or vacation.

The Education Deparmtent also states that we are required to mark any student absent during the term due to being on a holiday as an "Unauthorised Vacation‟ as students are required to be at school during the whole term.

Requests for leave can only be granted in exceptional circumstances, and a holiday would not be considered exceptional.

We appreciate the challenges that some parents face when booking holidays, particularly during school holidays. However, regular attendance at school is vital in helping children to achieve their full potential, as every day counts.
